What do you do?
I lead a team of amazing individuals, invest time and love into a community of badasses, and seek the simple pleasures of life via conversations, travel, and fun.
What else do you do?
Laugh--a lot! I choose to surround myself with people who bring me joy and keep me humble.
How do you define the word 'strength'?
Strength is being authentic and vulnerable with who you currently are and knowing that mustering courage in hard times will set you up for subsequent success.
How did you discover your passion?
It's an ever evolving discovery! I have always felt like I didn't quite fit into one specific arena. I've found myself obsessed and sometimes baffled by how juxtaposed I can be. I've had so many loves and passions and it's been a struggle to navigate in a society where you're told to pick a career or have an opinion on everything. I feel lucky to have had experiences and met amazing people that have allowed me to find appreciation in my inhabitance of the "gray". Not everything is black and white and I often find that beauty is in the nuance. I'm always discovering new passions. My true loves will always be people, nature, food, and adventure.
How do you incorporate movement into your daily lifestyle?
I love to move--I synthesize my thoughts, feelings, and find gratitude in my daily movement practice. I am either working on my strength in the gym with body weight movements, getting sweaty in hot yoga (searching for the calm. ha!), or enjoying what nature has in store for the day.
Where would be a good starting point for someone who is looking to add more movements into their life like what you do?
Take a walk in the woods (no music allowed) and see/feel what speaks to you.
How do you define 'fitness'?
Fitness is moving, eating, and thinking in a holistic way that brings a net positive outlook to your life and those around you.
Does movement increase your self-confidence? If yes, how?
A wholehearted YES! Movement puts the monkey mind to rest. I feel better about myself, think more clearly, am more in-tune with myself, and am a better human overall when I am consistent with my movement. Feeling good about myself boosts my self-confidence in all areas of my life.
What motivates the crap out of you?
People being authentic, real, and creative.
Where do you see the future of the fitness?
Fitness can mean many things--I see a future where the dogmatic views and approaches have fallen by the wayside allowing communities to support and work together to better one another regardless of what individual fitness goals may be.
What advice do you wish you could have given your former self?
Love more and be vulnerable. And book that trip!
